Changes to our phone service

Never before have we been hit with so many phone calls from people needing our assistance, advice and answers. We have just ONE person answering the phones, and unfortunately she just cannot answer all of the calls or return all of the messages left on our voicemail; there are not enough hours in the day. We MUST prioritize the calls. Emergency situation calls will be returned. If your call is not an emergency, please utilize our email service at mountainshumanesociety@hotmail.com   for a response. And remember; you catch more flies with honey that you do with vinegar!! Our volunteers are what keeps MHS up and running for you. Please respect and cherish them for the hard work they do for the animals.

Food Bank FOOD NEEDED!!

Have you ever purchased a bag of food for your pet and their noses were turned away? What do you do with that unused food?  We would welcome that food to our pantry program. We have been getting more and more requests for pet food(s) from low income families so they can feed their pets.  If you have some pet food that you do not need, we would be happy to pass that food along to other pet owners who are struggling to feed their pets. Or if you would like us to purchase a new bag of food on your behalf, please send a check payable to MHS and indicate "food bank" in the memo section or on the envelope.  And If you would like a tax receipt, we would be more than happy to supply that to you; just ask!

BONES

A story of Survival

Breed: Boxer mix  Born: Aug. 2009 Gender: Male

Bones is a young Boxer mix who was dumped off on Hwy 18. He lived in the tall brush along the Hwy for at least a week before spotted by a passing motorist. His right leg is so badly broken and the time lapse of medical treatment requires his leg to be amputated.

For his full story, more photos and updates of Bones, click on the "Animal Stories" tab. You can also follow his story on our FaceBook page!
